READY TO MENTOR THE NEXT GENERATION WORKFORCE

STEM EDUCATION

In partnership, our community is ready to mentor its next generation workforce. Hanford and our community offer a wide-range of employment opportunities. Our goal is to collaborate with STEM organizations, universities, colleges, and our community businesses to increase awareness and inspire innovation in our youth.

At Connect Tri-Cities 2019
local students can experience:

  • STEM SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION – Preliminary competition October 15-16. Register your team to develop solutions for non-violent uses of a medieval device. Form a team and come up with a plan to show how a medieval armament can be used for farming fruits and vegetables and creating electricity.

You’ll have the opportunity to showcase your team’s knowledge of STEM subjects by developing a hands-on prototype of the challenge, developing a written report, and presenting the results to a panel of esteemed STEM professionals from the local community. Full details of the contest and applications are available at the links above.

The top 5 teams will compete Monday, October 21 at the Three Rivers Convention Center. Judges to be announced.

STEM Competition results will be announced during the Networking Reception Tuesday, October 22, 4:30PM-6:00PM, following the Opportunity Fair at the Three Rivers Convention Center.

  • OPPORTUNITY FAIRTuesday, October 22. Businesses will include federal, state and local agencies, national laboratories, Hanford contractors, military and local businesses. Information on apprenticeship programs will also be available! Bus transportation will be provided on a first come first serve basis.
  • UNIVERSITY HALL – Meet representatives from regional universities, community colleges and technical schools. Hear from presenters to learn how to build your social capital, understand STEM-related initiatives, and build your future with Careers in Manufacturing and the Hanford Future Workforce.
  • GEEK SPEAK – Engage with science and technology experts. See live science demonstrations and Skype with a YouTube celebrity.
